Dave Charlebois

Investment Advisor, Lighthouse Wealth Management, iA Private Wealth Insurance Advisor, iA Private Wealth Insurance Agency

Dave Charlebois has been advising clients on investments and personal financial matters for more than 30 years.  After graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Urban Economics and Finance), Dave started his finance career in 1985 with Royal Bank.  Twelve years later, after multiple promotions and five relocations, Dave and his family (Karen and young son Marc) made a career and lifestyle change to remain in Victoria.

Licensed for both investments and life insurance since 1998, Dave has a fine collection of business cards with different company names on them.  As he likes to say, “while the company names on the cards changed, I didn’t.”

In late 2006, Dave and his now-retired partner, departed one of the major bank-owned investment firms to set up their own, independent practice.  This fiercely independent practice is now re-focused as Lighthouse Wealth Management.

Today, Dave is the “senior yet youthful guy” in the office.  He holds the FMA designation from the Canadian Securities Institute.  Coupled with his extensive tax and accounting background, clients appreciate the perspective and guidance that comes from Dave’s four decades of experience.

Away from the office, Dave will likely be found at Royal Colwood Golf Club or cycling throughout the Greater Victoria area. Dave is a long-time blood donor with Canadian Blood Services (nearly 200 donations and counting), starting when he was in high school.  In 2002, he donated bone marrow (stem cells) through the OneMatch stem cell registry.  Dave is frequently asked to speak on his experiences as a long-time blood and stem cell donor.  Married to his best friend Karen for more than 30 years, they are incredibly proud of their son Marc, and are looking forward to many more adventures in the years ahead.

Steve Gaskin

Investment Advisor, Lighthouse Wealth Management, iA Private Wealth

Steve’s passions are being a father to his two boys, followed by studying the economy and financial markets and using his knowledge and experience to steward wealth for clients across generations. For more than ten years, Steve has studied, written, and advised clients about the economy and financial markets. Steve became a licensed Investment Advisor in 2014.

Steve’s interest in economics began in secondary school with a great teacher. This led him to pursue a B.A. (Honours) in Economics at the University of Western Ontario. After completing this degree in 2005, Steve moved to Victoria to pursue a Master’s in Economics at UVic, completing this in 2008, gaining experience in both the Federal and Provincial governments along the way.

Steve left government in 2010 to be an Economist on the economic research team of a national wealth advisory and asset management firm. He had found his dream job, or so he thought; this job was in Victoria and he was part of a skilled team of professional economists, writing to a national audience and helping advisors care for client assets.

In late 2011, a chartered bank purchased this firm. Faced with the decision of moving to Toronto to keep his job, Steve decided to begin a career as a Wealth Advisor at the local branch of this same bank to pursue his goal of using his knowledge in finance and economics to help others build wealth.

Steve believes financial markets are intrinsically linked to the economy. His knowledge in these areas helps him provide valuable insights to identify where they overlap, and his belief is this allows him to expertly guide clients through different market cycles and to plan for risk and uncertainty. He is grateful to have turned his passion for economic and financial market research into a fulfilling career where his work benefits others.

Working on a team and having the autonomy to put clients’ interests first is a source of pride for Steve, as is his ability to listen carefully and identify important nuances that are often not said or clearly stated. The benefit of working on many skilled teams in his career is learning great lessons and gaining knowledge and experience that is directly applicable in his daily life, and those of his clients.

Raised in an entrepreneurial family, Steve understands the unique needs of business owners, leading him to specialize in working with them. Steve is very proud of the work he does with business owners, combining his knowledge of economics, financial markets, and tax with practical experience to guide them to realize the maximum benefit of their life’s work.

Away from the office, Steve enjoys time with family and friends, connecting with his community, fundraising, and volunteering. Steve’s leisure time is spent with those close to him, travelling on Vancouver Island, on local golf courses, or baseball fields.

Nate Postle

Client Service Assistant, Lighthouse Wealth Management, iA Private Wealth

Nate is a recent graduate from the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria. He began his post-secondary education at Okanagan College where he competed for the school’s baseball team. During his time with the Coyotes, he was a part of a Championship team in his first year, followed by a runner up finish in his second year.

After two years at Okanagan College Nate transferred to Gustavson to finish his business degree at his hometown University. Nate had the opportunity to join the Lighthouse Wealth Management team as a co-op student and quickly became very interested in the industry. Nate is now working to become licensed as a financial advisor and is learning everyday from Dave and Steve.

Having lived in Victoria for virtually his entire life Nate has always loved Vancouver Island and hopes to spend his adult life continuing to enjoy island and giving back to the community he grew up in. Now that he is no longer playing baseball Nate enjoys coaching youth baseball and loves to pass on what he has learned to the next generation of ballplayers here in Victoria. If he’s not at a local ballpark watching one of the many great ball teams here on the island, Nate can be found enjoying a round of golf at the beautiful Victoria Golf Club.
